Zhelezarov George was born on January 25, 1897 in the village Marchevo, Blagoevgrad. In 1918, he graduated from art-industrial school in Sofia (now NAA) in “Graphics” and “Decorative Arts” in the class of Prof. Josef Peter, Czech professor. In 1920 he co-founded the Society of Independent Artists. In the period from 1926 to 1928, he visited Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Istanbul, Italy – Florence. In Algiers, the designers work as a lithographer in Tipolitografskoto shop, a branch of the Paris company “Societe Anonyme”. From 1930 until his retirement in 1957 Zhelezarov served as master chromolithograph, artist, technical director and head of department at the State lithographic printing. His work is associated with the production of originals of bank notes, stamps, stamps and certificates. George lifetime Zhelezarov has two solo exhibitions – in 1924 in Nevrokop (today Gotse Delchev) and in 1941 at the State Art Gallery in Sofia. In his second solo exhibition includes painting artist from Algeria and domestic scenes and landscapes of Bulgaria. During the 1930s and 40s actively participated in the exhibitions of the Society of Independent Artists and exhibitions of the Society of Artists in Bulgaria. During the month of July 2011 Gallery “Seasons” in Sofia presents the retrospective exhibition “Algeria and Bulgaria in the works of George Zhelezarov.” His pictures are owned by galleries and private collections in Bulgaria, France, Germany, Finland and others. George Zhelezarov died on February 21, 1982 in Sofia.
