Vasil Stoilov was born in Sofia on February 29, 1904. Graduated First Boys School and continued his education at the Academy of Fine Arts in painting in the class of Prof. Zeno Todorov. Ever since his graduation in 1927, he received the recognition of art criticism, and in the following year, his first participation in a joint art exhibition wins right specialization for France. In the period 1928-1932 he resides in Paris, where painted many portraits and participated in prestigious exhibitions: Autumn Salon of the Grand Palais, gallery “Figaro” in the gallery “Henri Manuel” of Montmartre. In 1932 he was invited to participate in the general lanes exhibition of the Society of French Artists. During the summer of that year he returned to Bulgaria and the next – organized his first solo exhibition in Sofia. Since 1958 he is a professor of fine arts. Vasil Stoilov made many exhibitions and participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions. His paintings are owned by galleries and private collectors worldwide. He has won numerous awards and honors, including the Order “Republic of Bulgaria” (1978) and the title “People’s Artist” (1983). His last exhibition in Bulgaria in 1989, the gallery of the UBA, the same year set out in Tokyo, where he eventually opened a hall with a permanent exhibition of his works. Died in Sofia on February 13, 1990.
